Homburger, war vet, dies

SARANAC LAKE — Albert G. Homburger, 84, died Saturday evening at Saranac Lake General Hospital. He had been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1905.

Mr. Homburger was born Sept. 1, 1895, in New York City, the son of August and Mary Bauman Homburger. He was a veteran of World War I and World War II, having served in the army. He had been the superintendent of the National Guard Armory in Saranac Lake since the 1920's, retiring in 1960.

His wife, the former Lillian Vosburgh, died in 1976

He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1508 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was past post commander and past county commander of the American Legion.

He is survived by a son, Albert H., of Saranac Lake; a brother, John G., of Cobleskill; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Stickney of Saranac Lake and Mrs. Frances McElwain of Menlow Park, Cal.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He will repose at the Fortune Funeral Home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. A Veterans' Service will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be said Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Strong officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

The family requests that friends wishing to remember Mr. Homburger make donations to the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad.
