Mrs. Ethel Distin Dies; Ex-President of V.I.S

Mrs. Ethel E. Distin died at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Saranac Lake General Hospital where she had been a patient for one day.

She was born in Euclid, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Garrison Lee Brown. She was married in Euclid in 1915 to William G. Distin Sr., Saranac Lake architect. The couple moved here in 1915 and have made their home here since that time.

Besides her husband Mr. Distin is survived by two sons, William Jr., of Saranac Lake, and Robert of Columbia, S.C. There are four grandchildren, a brother, Leonard M. Brown of Dade City, Fla., and a sister, Miss Gladys M. Brown of Syracuse.

Mrs. Distin was a graduate of [illegible] of the Alpha Gamma Delta [illegible] national sorority. She was a past president of the Girls' Club of Saranac Lake and past president and active member of the Village Improvement Society. She was a director of the Northern New York Children's Home in Plattsburgh.

Mrs. Distin was widely respected and liked for her quiet good humor and good sense and for her interest in the community and especially, of course, for her close attachment to her family.

The body reposed at the Fortune Funeral Home, where there was a service at 11 o'clock this morning with the Rev. Sidney T. Ruck of Lake Placid officiating. Cremation will take place in Troy. [illegible]
