Accomplishments

Brenda Roberts has been Oakland’s independent City Auditor since 2015.  Under her guidance, the office:

  • Issued 21 AUDIT REPORTS in less than 4 years, including all six mandated audits, as is required of the City Auditor

  • Prepared impartial financial analyses for 12 BALLOT MEASURES, as included on the voter guide

  • Investigated and closed more than 170 WHISTLEBLOWER COMPLAINTS

  • Meet regularly with City employees and community members to discuss relevant issues and concerns, and considers these in the annual work plan for the Office

  • Is an award-winning office, and most recently received the KNIGHTON AWARD - Exemplary from the Association of Local Government Auditors

Roberts filed for the city auditor 2014 race in June 2014, noting partisan affiliation of Democrat. Her website (http://brendarobertsforauditor.com/) says:

"As Auditor I’ll protect Oakland’s taxpayers from waste, fraud and mismanagement by ensuring responsible, transparent financial practices. I’ll be a Watchdog for you in responding to citizen complaints while also working proactively to increase City Hall efficiency."
